Being a member of the Vantage Group of companies has its advantages, and VT Markets offers access to both the MetaTrader platform family and its own VT Pro trading app.

VT Markets struggles to compete with the best forex brokers due to its scant research material, scant educational content, and its constrained selection of available markets, despite its support for a variety of third-party features and social copy trading.

Through its parent company, Vantage, VT Markets is accredited by the Australian Securities & Investment Commission (ASIC) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), two tier-1 regulators.

VT Markets commissions

Whether you select the Raw ECN or the Standard STP account will affect the price of trading at VT Markets. Both accounts have a $200 minimum deposit requirement, and the Standard STP account is commission-free but has wider spreads than the Raw ECN account.

Spreads on average: According to VT Markets, the EUR/USD spread for its Standard STP account is typically 1.2 pip, while the RAW ECN effective spread was 0.83 pip (based on a 0.6 round turn commission and a 0.23 pip average spread for September 2021). While the pricing for the Standard STP account is less appealing, it is fairly standard for the industry for the VT Markets Raw ECN account.

Apps for mobile trading

VT Markets simply cannot compete with what the best MetaTrader brokers have to offer in this category, despite full support for the MetaTrader suite and a proprietary mobile app. The VT Pro mobile app from VT Markets has shown considerable promise, but further development is required for it to reach its full potential.

VT Markets offers a proprietary mobile app called VT Pro in addition to being primarily a MetaTrader broker. For Android and Apple iOS devices, directly from the Google Play and Apple App stores, are VT Pro, MetaTrader 4 (MT4), and MetaTrader 5 (MT5).

Usability: The VT Pro mobile app from VT Markets is simple to use and has a well-designed layout with cleanly integrated research content. It offers resources like its newsletter articles that cover Pivot Point analysis across a set of six well-known trading symbols, as well as practical tools like watchlist items.

A full economic calendar with the ability to subscribe to events is also available, as is a useful feature that populates the calendar with events when you view a particular symbol. Additional features include a dedicated news tab with articles covering technical analysis.

The only basic features available for charting on VT Pro are the ability to rotate the display into landscape mode and the addition of tick chart functionality. Only seven indicators are available, ten time frames can be chosen, and there are no drawing tools or advanced features.

Trading Platforms

VT Markets continues to be a MetaTrader-only broker offering the well-known platform suite created by MetaQuotes Software Corporation because it lacks a proprietary web or desktop platform. Check out our list of the best MetaTrader brokers to see which products stand out among similar ones.

Overview of the platforms: VT Markets provides the Windows and Mac-compatible MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platforms. VT Markets provides a number of MT4 plugins as part of the Pro Trading Tools package from Trading Central (a well-known third-party provider) for traders who make a deposit of at least $500.

Trading resources: For copy trading, VT Markets supports outside signal providers like Acceage and ZuluTrade.

Market research

Overview of the research: I was satisfied with the level of in-house reporting in VT Markets’ Daily Market Analysis series. Although the series includes numerous descriptive charts and discusses both fundamental and technical analysis, I was left wanting to learn more about the state of the larger markets. Its research is rounded out by Trading Central’s Economic Calendar and the daily videos posted on VT Markets’ YouTube channel. By streamlining and broadening the scope of its video content, VT Markets could improve the research services it provides.

Market news and analysis: VT Markets offers access to the Pro Trading Tools suite from Trading Central through the client portal for customers who make deposits of at least $500. As part of VT Markets’ offering, Trading Central also provides a MetaTrader add-on. Otherwise, VT Markets only publishes one article and one video per day with market news and analysis.

Education VT Markets

Nearly a dozen videos and articles make up the education section that VT Markets recently added to its website. On its YouTube channel, there is also educational material about financial markets. VT Markets only provides a small number of educational resources, excluding some content from Trading Central, which lowers its rating in this category.

Conclusion on VT Markets

If VT Markets wants to compete with the top forex brokers, it must significantly improve its research, financial markets education (which is currently completely lacking), mobile app, and research capabilities.

Furthermore, compared to the thousands of symbols made available by other multi-asset brokers that offer MetaTrader, its selection of markets is constrained.
